Horn mass is covered in detail. Watch footage of several large rams. When I first began Dall sheep hunting in the early 1960's, I was like most hunters, the standard was taking a full curl. At the time, I was doing a small amount of taxidermy and a client brought in a full curl ram from the Talkeetna Range. It was only 20 inches around the curl, a far cry from being a trophy. For the first time, I realized there are full curls and full curls. I was hunting in the north Wrangells in the early 1970's and I had a chance to shoot a bare full curl that I assumed would measure about 36 inches. What a shock when I found that I had taken a forty inch ram. When I returned home, a friend of mine had also killed a bare full curl - only his taped 43 ½ inches and with bases exceeding 15 inches. I now realized that circumference is related to diameter and could be evaluated by looking at how low the bottom of the horn drops in relation to the bottom of the jaw line. 53 ½ Minutes
